American guitar manufacturer Leo Fender was born on the 10 August 1909. Best known for his range of electric guitars such as the Telecaster and Stratocaster, Fender saw his instruments being used as their preferred 'axe' by some of the greatest stars of the rock era such as Buddy Holly, Jim Hendrix and Eric Clapton.
