television presenter, was killed by a stingray yesterday while
filming a documentary series called Ocean's Deadliest.

motor sport legend Peter Brock has died after his car hit a
tree during a rally in Western Australia today.
Brock was
competing on the second day of the Targa West Rally when his
Daytona Coupe hit a tree near the small community of
Gidgegannup, about 40 kilometres east of Perth. |

On the 16th August 1766, Carolina Oliphant was born in Gask, Perthshire. A poet, she added her words to old folk tunes. Her parents were staunch Jacobite supporters and many of her works, including "Charlie is my Darling", reflect her family's sympathies.
