Robert Allan, poet and songwriter, was born in Kilbarchan,
Renfrewshire, on the 4th November 1774. His works, published by Robert Burns Hardy of Glasgow, while attracting a great deal of admiration from lovers of Scottish song, failed to earn him enough money to continue his legacy.
