Corby trial postponed after collapse
17:55 AEST Thu Apr 14 2005
A young, innocent Australian woman's life
hangs in the balance.
Accused drug trafficker Schapelle Corby
collapsed amid scenes of hysteria and chaos in a Bali court as she
waited to hear if Indonesia wants to put her to death.
Corby appeared to faint in the witness
chair just before prosecutors had been scheduled to say what
punishment they think the Australian should face if found guilty of
smuggling 4.1kg of cannabis into Bali.
She was sent to a nearby hospital under
guard ...

Gold Coast businessman and supporter Ron
Bakir said later of Corby: "She's not doing too well - she's under a
lot of pressure and she is deteriorating day by day."

You can show your support in several ways
by first
- Tying a yellow ribbon around your letter box.
- Pledging money to assist in providing information crucial to
defence that the cannabis in Corby's unlocked body board was
planted by baggage handlers at the Australian Sydney Airport prior
to departure.
- Contact your Federal and State Political Members of Parliament
and voice your concerns.
Mr.
Downer says he just wants to see justice done.
"I would hope Australians wouldn't think
that Schapelle Corby was necessarily in more trouble because she is
in Indonesia than anywhere else having been arrested at the airport
with four kilograms of cannabis," he said.
"We don't know whether she's innocent or
guilty and in our system there's a presumption of innocence but I
think all of us in Australia should let the court case flow through
in the normal way."

Well Mr. Downer, the trial is not
in Australia and there is no presumption of innocence in the courts
in Indonesia, where you are guilty until you can prove your
innocence.

I would suggest, that if the courts should
find Schapelle Corby guilty and sentence her to death by firing
squad, and or they impose a life sentence, that the ramifications
will be felt around the World, and that not only will this
Government be unable to hold office in the next election, but the
support you recently observed by the Australian people in assisting
Indonesia and their people during their recent need, will not be
repeated in the future.
If this was your Daughter or Son, would
this still be your excuse to not do anything until it is to late.
I don't think so - You would do everything
within your power to assist the Defence Attorneys, in obtaining the
evidence that is needed to obtain an acquittal.
As Russell Crowe has said "From my
individual point of view, looking at it, it's like it's bullshit,
let's deal with it," anything other than full acquittal is
unacceptable.
